Apelon Announces Interoperability Services for Intersystems Infomatics Solutions

Services Support Data Normalization and Semantic Interoperability within HealthShare

Apelon, Inc., an international provider of terminology and data interoperability solutions, today announces that it is working with InterSystems Corporation, a global leader in software for connected care, to provide interoperability services to support the InterSystems HealthShare™ strategic informatics platform. Apelon's portfolio of data interoperability products and services, including interoperability planning, content subscription service and data mapping services, will assist HealthShare clients to consistently aggregate and better analyze their clinical data. An immediate benefit of the collaboration is the ability for healthcare facilities to satisfy Meaningful Use and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) standardized reporting requirements.

In collaboration with InterSystems, Apelon's tools and services support consistent data aggregation, normalization, and analytics for HealthShare clients. These services provide access to a complete set of national and international terminology standards, such as SNOMED-CT, ICD-10-CM and LOINC, within the HealthShare environment, and support the mapping of local data sets and code catalogs to these standards. The combination of technology and consulting assists users of HealthShare, including health exchanges, integrators and related application vendors, to evidence true semantic interoperability in their environments.

"Apelon is enthusiastically committed to assisting organizations to realize interoperability of their clinical data," said Stephen Coady, Apelon President and CEO. "The objective in sight is far more significant than administrative savings or even reduction in test ordering. HealthShare is an extraordinary platform for the delivery of health exchange value, and we are very pleased to be working with InterSystems Corporation and their clients to advance their interoperability objectives."

InterSystems HealthShare is a strategic healthcare informatics platform that enables sharing of patient information across multiple systems and active analytics to drive informed action. Apelon's HealthShare Terminology Services include:

Interoperability Planning Services - consulting services to assist HealthShare clients in defining their data interoperability needs and developing an implementation roadmap

Content Subscription Service - a content/code system distribution service that provides regular, up-to-date distributions of national standards such as SNOMED CT, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, LOINC, and RxNorm in HealthShare data load formats

Data Mapping Services - services to develop data maps, directly loadable into HealthShare, that connect local problem lists, code sets, lab catalogs, and more to their industry-standard equivalents

"Healthcare providers want to move forward from simply capturing and sharing data to understanding and using clinical information for optimal decision-making and care delivery," said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. "Apelon provides an integrated set of services and tools that provide significant assistance to HealthShare customers in achieving the interoperability needed to make that transition successful."
