NEXTGEN HEALTHCARE SELECTS APELON VOCABULARY SERVER
Standardized Terminology Will Help Facilitate Guideline Deployment
and Decision Support
RIDGEFIELD, CT – May 19, 2004 – Apelon,
Inc., provider of healthcare terminology solutions, will supply terminology
products and services to NextGen Healthcare Information Systems,
Inc., a subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (QSII:NASDAQ).
NextGen Healthcare will integrate Apelon’s Distributed Terminology
System (DTS), and associated healthcare terminologies, into their
EMR solution. NextGen® EMR (Electronic Medical Records) is a
comprehensive solution designed to facilitate clinical workflow and
manage data related to patient care outcomes.
The DTS solution consists of a comprehensive terminology knowledgebase,
including key national standards such as SNOMED CT®, LOINC, CPT,
and ICD-9; a subscription update service to assure the latest and
most accurate version of all terminologies; a high-performance vocabulary
server; and robust applications for browsing and extending standard
terminologies.
The incorporation of standardized terminology in the NextGen® EMR
application will help facilitate the comparability of medical data
in NextGen® EMR and enable the implementation of advanced capabilities
in guideline deployment and decision support, leading to improved
quality and reduced risk.
