What Is TermWorks?
Apelon’s TermWorks is an innovative data mapping solution which brings powerful terminology capabilities directly to the desktop. TermWorks combines Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet software with web services-based terminology processing to give organizations comprehensive mapping capability without the high cost of hardware and software acquisition, installation, integration, maintenance and support. The result is a complete mapping solution that is:
- Easy to use ... the familiar Excel interface has little or no learning curve
- Easy to install … all that is required is a simple Excel plug-in file, and a TermWorks certificate
- Easy to purchase … you can subscribe and pay as you use it
Apelon’s TermWorks Excel plug-in extends this familiar application with advanced terminology capabilities such as search and concept navigation, operating on industry-standard terminologies such as SNOMED CT®, CPT®, and ICD-9-CM. Full mapping functionality is as simple as selecting a term and clicking “Search”.
How Does It Work?
TermWorks uses web services to access remote servers hosted by Apelon. These high-performance systems maintain the most recent version of all standard healthcare terminologies and provide the processing power behind TermWorks' sophisticated matching and searching algorithms.
Organizations can also use TermWorks web services directly to include advanced terminology capabilities into their applications. These applications can take advantage of rich vocabulary features and industry-standard terminologies without incurring the cost, time, and complexity of in-house development.
